Ceramic coating gets sold as force-field magic. Here's the honest version: it's a chemically bonded glass-like layer that makes paint slicker, deeper-looking, and dramatically easier to keep clean. That's plenty — it just isn't armor.
What it does brilliantly
Water beads and sheets off, taking dirt with it. Bugs, sap, and bird bombs release with less fight. UV takes years longer to dull the finish. Wash day drops from an afternoon to twenty minutes, and the gloss after a rinse looks like you detailed it.
What it doesn't do
It will not stop rock chips (that's PPF's job), and it is not a substitute for washing — just a guarantee that washing works. Anyone promising a scratch-proof car with a coating is selling the word "ceramic," not the chemistry.
Prep decides everything
A coating bonds to whatever it touches. On decontaminated, corrected paint, it locks in a mirror. On a swirled daily, it locks in the swirls. That's why our coating package starts with decon and paint inspection — and why we'll tell you if your paint wants correction first.
Respect the cure
Coatings need roughly 24 hours dry and about two weeks of gentle treatment while they fully crosslink: no automatic washes, no harsh soaps, ideally no rain the first day. We hand over every coated vehicle with care instructions that fit on one page — and we check in at the eleven-month mark for the annual inspection.
On gelcoat, marine ceramic is the difference between a hull that wipes clean at the ramp and one that needs compound by August.
